The Advantages and Disadvantages of Propecia
There are advantages and disadvantages for men that use Propecia, the FDA approved pill for male pattern baldness. This pill has the proven ability to increase the growth of hair for men that are losing hair and have bald spots on the top of the head or mid scalp baldness.
The advantages of course is the return of hair that has been lost due to male pattern baldness, this occurs because Propecia decreases the DHT allowing hair follicles to begin producing hair again. As long as Propecia is taken hair growth will continue and other hairs that would have been lost are not.
The downside to this is that there can be some side effects for some men that take Propecia. The main side effect reported is the decrease in sexual ability, which can even include erectile dysfunction. In many cases, this can be corrected by decreasing the amount of Propecia taken and if the hair loss medication is stopped normal sexual function will return. Decreasing the amount of Propecia means the over production of hair loss hormones are still being inhibited, stopping the medication means that the hair that has grown will be lost over a matter of months.
