Can Alzheimer’s Cause ED?
For a man to be able to effectively produce a strong enough erection that will allow him the ability to participate in a relationship of sexual intercourse, there are a variety of different nerve functions throughout the body that must be able to take place and function properly before this can occur. Adequate blood circulation that travels to a man’s penis is extremely important, as well as the proper function of nerves that lead to the penis, and the brain must be able to send signals of stimuli in order for events to take place that result in an erection. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition that can happen when the brain or the spinal cord has suffered from any type of damage that has occurred from either a serious injury that has taken place, or damage that has been caused by a variety of medical conditions or diseases. A few of the neurological disorders that can interfere or interrupt the impulses that are sent from the nerves to the penis would include Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. Each of these is a disorder of the nerve’s that can result with men and their partner dealing with the frustrating problems of ED.
