Grapefruit Juice Not Advised When Taking Viagra
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be marked off the list of any man that is using Viagra at least twenty-four hours or longer before they plan to take the medication for an intimate encounter, or they could be let down by the medication. Research has found to change the effects Viagra can have on the man taking this medication for erectile dysfunction is grapefruit and grapefruit juice, because of what this citrus fruit contains.
This is unless the physician that has prescribed the Viagra for impotency directs it. The reason for this is blamed on one of the hundreds of chemicals found in grapefruit that make them so health. This chemical is furanocoumarin, and is found in other fruits like sour oranges and tangelos.
What this does is to block the absorption in some medications and one of the medications is Viagra, although in-depth studies have not been conducted. It blocks medication by binding to an enzyme in the intestinal tract known as CYP3A4 and this blocks Viagra from entering the bloodstream properly. This means that the medication cannot properly enter the bloodstream and perform the function that it is made to. As little as a single glass of the juice can reduce Viagra’s effect by 47 percent.
