Will The New Hair Growth Look Like The Rest Of The Hair?
Studies that have been done over several years show that the hair grown after the use of Propecia is not fine new growth hair. The hair that grows is thick, grows fast and is the match to the hair on the rest of the head.
This study that used men from age 18 to 41 years of age was done over a four year period and showed the hair that had grown in spots that had been bald prior to starting a regiment of Propecia the weight of the hair that was taken as samples from the areas that were bald matched the weight of the other hair. This hormone inhibitor has proven effective in growing adult hair follicles in approximately 86 percent of the men taking the drug.
The evidence is overwhelming for the use of Propecia in re-growing hair on the top of the head and mid scalp baldness. The receding hairline at the temples has not been sufficiently studied. So, there is little evidence if the FDA approved drug will inhibit the hormones causing that decrease in hair growth the same as the top and mid scalp growth.
