Propecia has the advantage to help grow hair where it has been lost for men with bald spots on the top of the head or the mid scalp area when taken regularly in the appropriate dosage. This is also the only FDA approved pill for hair growth and stopping over production of hormones in the male body attributed to hair loss.
There are some disadvantages to the medication; there can be a decrease in sexual desire and obtaining an erection. There are a small percentage of men that take Propecia that have to stop taking it due to allergic reactions including rash, hives and other problems. This is a less than 2 percent of men who try the hair growth medication that does have side effects or allergic reactions.
One of the large advantages is unlike other male pattern medications Propecia will not affect other medications being taken like blood pressure medicine or diuretics. This for many men facing the loss of hair is important, because they are taking medications and are concerned with their health more so than the loss of hair. This is because there are other hair re-growth products that do affect medications like blood pressure medicine.
