What Side Effects Can There Be Using Propecia?
Most men do not experience side effects from taking Propecia, although a small percentage of men will experience some side effects. In studies that have been done as few as two percent of the volunteers experienced side effects from the FDA approved medication.
The side effects that have been attributed to use of Propecia were sexual side effects, the decrease in the desire for sex, difficulty in achieving an erection and a decreased amount of semen.
In an even smaller percentage of men there have been allergic reactions that included, a rash, itching, hives, swelling of the lips and face, breast tenderness and testicular pain. Any of these types of symptoms should be reported to the physician immediately.
One of the ways physician’s deal with the side effects of Propecia is to lower the daily dose and in most cases this also decreases the unwanted effects and still allows the growth of new hair and the decrease in hair that is being lost. The lower does is still able to have the same desired effect, but may take a longer amount of time to re-grow hair that has been lost previous to taking Propecia.
