Sildenafil and Grapefruit Juice Could Have Unwanted Side Effects
One of the fruits to stay away from when taking Viagra is grapefruit, this fruit while healthy, contains something that can hamper the way the medication is made to work. While research shows that as little as a glass of grapefruit juice can decrease the effects of Viagra by 47 percent. Sildenafil is one of the main ingredients in Viagra, and there have been other ill effects found from this citrus fruit when mixed with Sildenafil.
While the clinical information is not complete there is enough evidence to show that the consumption of grapefruit juice in men that use medication with Sildenafil, are subject to bad effects from the mixture. These can be headaches, flushing and low blood pressure, when the two are mixed. What makes it even more difficult for men that eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice is the potential for these health effects can last in the system for as long as 24 hours after consuming the fruit or juice.
Researchers believe it is better to stay away from the citrus fruit while taking Viagra with its main effective ingredient Sildenafil, unless ordered to drink the juice by a physician.
