Radiation Therapies and ED?
There are numerous men who suffering from having various medical problems that have to do with the part of the body that is called the prostate gland, and patients with conditions that pertain to cancerous diseased tissue, will generally be required to undergo a variety of different tests, therapies, and medical procedures during the course of their illness. One of the tests that are often performed on men who have been diagnosed with the disease of prostate cancer is called a three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy or 3D-CRT. It is a special procedure that uses the images that are received from a CT scan. It allows physicians to more precisely be able to locate the area of the prostate that may be diseased and causing problems with ED. This is a test that also allows oncologists to determine whether or not a higher level of radiation will need to be used on the cancerous cells. Unfortunately, radiation is the type of treatment that is known to cause men to suffer side effects that include ED. However, many studies have suggested that the higher the level of radiation that is delivered, the more success in being able to reduce chances of recurring cancer cells.
