Propecia is an FDA approved pill used for re-growing hair in men that have bald spots or loss of hair. This medication is a pill that has eight sides, is a bronze color and is taken daily. Propecia is a prescription medication and the usual dosage is 1mg, this pill can be taken with or without meals, and as long as it is taken daily it will promote new hair growth.
Propecia is the only FDA approved pill of this kind, and while there are other types of hair treatments, this has been proven to be effective in re-growing hair without interfering with other medications. There have been several studies done, with one lasting for five years, in which the volunteers using the medication had new hair growth and stopped losing hair during the time it was taken.
This pill unlike other treatments that are rubbed in or used externally works within the body to inhibit the over production of hormones, which is the cause of male hair loss. The hormones known as androgens shrink the hair follicles and this stops the growth of new hair and causes existing hair to die and fall out.
